Description: Since the Franchise Football game runs 12 months a year, and plays 4+ seasons in that time, the off-season is greatly condensed. That, in part, contributes to some confusion when owners try to figure out when things in the game occur. This calendar is a list of all the major events during the course of a Franchise Football season and when they occur. Many of the events key off of another event, not a particular day of the season (for example, the reset of the league, which occurs a couple of days after a champion is crowned). For this reason, a number of items in this calendar are relative to another event.
Prior to Week 1: In the period of time before week 1 and continuing afterward, various players will clear 'waivers' and sign with teams. Waivers are reset at the end of each season to allow owners ample time to review and sign players.
Week 1: First Week of Pre-season Games. Immediately prior to pre-season week 1, all players are unbenched and taken off of the disabled list. Players are also added to teams to insure that no team is under the minimum roster requirements and that all players have a backup.
Week 4: Last Week of Pre-season Games
Week 5: First week of the regular season. Immediately prior to week 5, the pre-season statistics are cleared (and not stored anywhere) this includes both records and player statistics. Injuries, however, carry over to the regular season.
Week 16: Free agent signing period ends. Trading period ends. Check your "league info" screen, as this varies, typically the default is 16, however. This is regular season week 12.
Week 20: This is the last day of the regular season, the playoffs are created immediately following this game.
Week 24: The Galaxy Bowl plays. From here on known as DAY: Galaxy Bowl.
Galaxy Bowl + 1: The night after the Galaxy Bowl, all players are reset. Their statistics are zeroed, they are aged, their skills increase and decrease, some retire, some opt for free agency (if not signed to a contract (in 0 year of contract).
Galaxy Bowl + 2: Nothing happens. This is an extra night so that teams may revamp their draft choices based upon retirements, players leaving and other factors.
Galaxy Bowl + 3 (League Reset): On this day, all four rounds of the draft are carried out, the teams record is reset and the prior years schedule is deleted. The year is also incremented. This is also known as the League Reset. After this, free agents may be offered contracts, and trades may be carried out.
League Reset + 1 : New season schedule is created and free agents may be offered contracts.
League Reset + 2: Free Agents may be offered contracts and trades completed. No Games Played.
League Reset + 3: Free Agents may be offered contracts and trades completed. No Games Played.
League Reset + ?: Depending on what day your Galaxy Bowl was played on and what days your league typically plays games on, the exact pause between seasons will vary. Basically, each league will skip two game days and resume play on the third game day following the Galaxy Bowl. For example, if your league plays on Tuesday and Saturday (that information is available in the League Info section of News) and the Galaxy Bowl was played on a Saturday, then you will not have games on the following Tuesday or Saturday, games will resume on the second Tuesday and continue along that schedule. So, typically, a league will have approximately 10 days or so between seasons.
Although there are not many leagues where the numbers differ from these, it is possible that your league has a slightly different setup.
